West Shore Aware, a philanthropic organization of gay men, women and their supporters living in the Saugatuck/Douglas communities, held its 13th annual awards presentation luncheon on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Lucy’s Little Kitchen in Saugatuck. Due to the success of this year’s fundraising efforts, including the 13th annual White Party held last month, West Shore Aware was able to donate $49,000 to six local 501c3 organizations. At the awards luncheon, representatives from the six charities were presented with checks. The six organizations are: Aware Scholarship Fund; Chamber Music Festival of Saugatuck; the Out Center; Sylvia’s Place; Wishbone Pet Rescue; and Wings Home. The six groups were selected from 15 charitable organizations who applied for funding this year. After its membership voted, the Aware Board of Directors confirmed and announced the top six winners in June. The Aware Board extend their deep appreciation to all who contributed to their fundraising efforts this year.
