In 2007, West Shore AWARE established the Scholarship Fund to provide support for education.
Since that time, AWARE has established a $60,000 endowment at Grand Valley State University that will annually and in perpetuity provide funding for two scholarships for GVSU students.
The Scholarship Fund provides educational support to qualified GVSU students who are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT), or to other students who have demonstrated support for issues important to the well being of the broad LGBT community. Applications are available on the GVSU LGBT Resource Center website.
In 2013, West Shore AWARE Scholarship Board announced a new scholarship for Saugatuck High School graduates. Grads may apply for an annual $2,500 scholarship to pursue higher education at the college or university of their choice.
The AWARE Scholarship will be administered by the Saugatuck Scholarship Foundation in partnership with the Allegan County Community Foundation.
Applications for the annual, renewable scholarship are available on the Saugatuck Public Schools website saugatuckps.com or that of the Allegan County Community Foundation site at alleganfoundation.org.
